Effective January 1, 2016 the state of Texas allows the OPEN CARRY of firearms. Some churches are choosing to prohibit the OPEN CARRY of a firearm on their premises. To prohibit the OPEN CARRY of a firearm, you MUST post this sign at all entrances to your building(s).
NOTES:
- This sign applies to TEXAS RESIDENTS / LOCATIONS ONLY
- This sign is SPECIFICALLY FOR the PROHIBITION of OPEN CARRY (Texas Penal Code 30.07)
- If you wish to ALSO prohibit CONCEALED guns on your property, you will need an additional sign (Texas Penal Code 30.06 available here)
This sign meets the State requirements for prohibiting OPEN CARRY firearms on your property:
Effective 1/1/2016, a sign posted under §30.07, Texas Penal Code, must do the following:
- Include the following text in English and in Spanish: “Pursuant to Section 30.07, Penal Code (trespass by license holder with an openly carried handgun), a person licensed under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code (handgun licensing law), may not enter this property with a handgun that is carried openly.”
- Appear in contrasting colors with block letters at least one inch in height; and
- Be displayed in a conspicuous manner clearly visible to the public at each entrance to the property.
